American Express Cards Query
Has anyone changed from one card to another?
We have a standard no-fee rewards card in an effort to save the points to convert to Avios for flights.
This is our ONLY aim with the card - to help with flights abroad.
We're thinking of switching to the British Airways card as we spend enough for the Companion voucher thing.
Is this a good idea?
Should we convert our existing points to Avios now?
Thanks for any advice.

It's a good idea as long as you are happy being locked into BA/One World… not such a good idea if you are thinking of flying other airlines.
Personally wouldnt convert MR points until they are needed, they are near instant to BA these days. There's always a chance either 1) a promo transfer rate comes up (hasn't been one for ages though) or 2) they expire whilst at BA - though wth an active card earning points this is unlikely

I think we'd use other airlines for short trips but we have a couple of trips to the US in a few years so aiming to use them all for that.

Personally for the US would prefer to use Virgin to BA, Upper Class is vastly better than the BA Club, and even more so if you are in an older plane with the yin yang style seating. BA First is better naturally but is a fundamentally different product and some prefer the "fun" of VS to the solitude of BA First
