Trading212 advice
I’m a complete novice when it comes to investing. I’ve just opened an a/c with the above (a very modest amount).
What I’m unsure about is this:
On the home page, i the top L/H corner, it shows the amount deposited; there is also lots of various data.
Do I have to do anything else (ie pick certain companies) or do I just leave it as is? I opted for the S & P 500 tracked funds (or words to that effect).
Thanks a lot, Cotm

You should see the amount invested (the graph) vs being held in cash (box underneath). Cash should be zero or near zero if you want to be invested. Further down you should see a breakdown of the investments and their value (maybe just one in your case). You can just leave it and ignore all of the stuff related to trading.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to use T212 as a novice with those kinds of questions - while pretty, it's actually pretty difficult to find the information that is probably helpful and it's very easy to accidentally do something you didn't mean to do or miss some small detail.

Thanks. Just checked - it’s showing investments £0 cash £250. Do I need to do something to ‘activate’ it?

You need to place an order to buy the security or, with Trading212, choose a "pie" to invest in.
When you say, "I opted for the S & P 500 tracked funds" did you do this after the market closed? 08.00 to 16.30 British time Monday to Friday in Europe. If so, you'll need to wait until Monday to see something happen. If you tried to invest in US listed securities that won't happen until Monday either as the US markets are closed for a national holiday.Did you click the, 'buy' button and then follow the prompts? Buy - enter amount - review order - submit buy order.

As above, adding money to your account and using it to buy investments are two separate steps that need to be followed. While you wait for markets to open next week, it would be worth checking if you've "turned on interest" so that your cash can be used to generate a little bit of interest over the weekend. See

That did occur to me (that the markets close over the weekend). I opened the a/c at around 6pm.
So, just wait until 8am on Monday; then presumably I’ll see some movement.
Do I still need to do anything before then or am I all set up?

I’ve now turned on interest…useful!
Thank you.

If you placed an order then it should be queued up and it’ll execute when the market opens. If you have them enabled, T212 will send you a notification via the app when it’s done.
Ordinary orders for shares and ETFs can usually be seen as pending orders listed at the bottom of the portfolio section of your dashboard. If you’re using a ‘pie’ I think that should be listed as well.

The 212 app has a practice mode option.

There are many YouTube videos, where everything is explained step by step for how to use T212
