Smart phone for gym
At the moment I use my main phone in the public gym. This involves leaving it lying around whilst I exercise, and there's definitely a risk of theft. That's mitigated by it being a fairly old low end Motorola phone, with practically no value in itself. Nevertheless, it has a banking app on it, plus a keyless entry system for my car.
It would make sense to get a phone just for the gym. It needs to run an interval timer, Brave (so I can play music on Youtube) and Alexa. Plus the gym's own app for entry and booking classes, perhaps. I currently take calls and answer messages in the gym, but I'm beginning to think that I don't need the interruption.
I'd need a data SIM, but I can get that from Scancom for £2-3 a month. What sort of phone makes sense? Something secondhand maybe?
Please tell me what to do. :)

May I suggest a low end running watch or smart watch. That will have a timer, loads can now play music too. Gym app may be an issue, but youd only need that on entrance/exit right? So you could leave it on your phone and put that in a locker.

Why not keep the crappy Motorola as the gym phone and buy yourself a decent main phone?
Strip the Motorola back to gym-only use: timer, music, Alexa, gym app, no banking, no car key, no main email, no saved cards. Then if it gets nicked, the loss is annoying rather than serious.
Buying another cheap phone just to replace the cheap phone you already own feels like adding clutter.

it’s obviously amazing but the low end Motorola is fine as my main phone! :)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Why not get an even lower end Moto?
I picked up a Moto G 06 before Christmas for £30 and it sits in the drawer as a spare emergency phone. Just look for a similar offer.

Could you get an arm holder and wear it all the time whilst at the gym or buy shorts/leggings with a zipped pocket.

I did wonder about a phone holder. I guess that is the sensible answer.

Where did you get the G06 from at this price?

this is what I was going to suggest. You can buy straps cheap on Amazon to keep it on your arm , chest or leg

I'd keep the Moto you have if you're happy with it - on the proviso that it's secured with a passcode and/or biometrics and you've set up a PIN lock on the SIM card and it's backed up to the cloud.
There should then be no problems other than replacing the phone if it gets nicked (or crushed by a falling kettlebell).

Tesco Mobile in store.
It was an offer before Christmas (I am a Tesco Mobile customer and they sent me some marketing bumf in the e-mail with by monthly bill notification) and I don't think the same offer is on now.
I am sure some similar offers will be available from online browsing - possibly not the same phone.
(Argos today have the e15 at £60 and the G 06 Power at £90.)
