Hotels at Stansted airport help needed please.
My husband is disabled and walks with crutches. He finds it very painful to do so and cant go a long way on them. He is not able to take his mobility scooter on the trip.
He is due to fly from Stansted airport and will be travelling with a friend. He gets assisted travel at the airport but due to the time he is flying they want to get down to Stansted the evening before, put the vehicle on a pre booked car park and stay overnight in a hotel.
So he needs to find which hotel is the easiest place to stay with the shortest and easiest way to get to the departures lounge where he will be able to go to the assistance desk.
Can anyone recommend or advise which is the best option please.

Is getting a taxi from the hotel to the airport an option?

There are a couple of hotels (Hampton, Radisson) that appear to be adjacent to the terminal, but difficult to judge actual walking distances from these to an assistance desk, or some of the others further away offer shuttle or service buses.

It is if they cant find one which would be walkable for my husband. He has been looking online at the Raddison as it says there is a covered walkway and only 150 yards to the airport but you cant always believe what they say which is why I was hoping for someone who has done the same and stayed the night beffore.

A couple of further thoughts:
The airport assistance page implies that assistance is available a bit beyond the terminal building on landing ("our service provider will assist you to your final point of onward travel, such as a car park, taxi rank, bus, or rail station") so perhaps worth asking them if they can help from nearby 'walkable' hotels when departing - they quote an email address for enquiries?
Alternatively, is his travelling companion able to push him in a wheelchair if they collect one from the airport assistance area and take it to the hotel (I've done similar when dropping someone needing assistance at a different airport)?

I stayed at the Radisson Blue last year, albeit overnighting after an inbound flight.
That 150 yards to the airport sounds about right but depending on where Assistance/Check In is within the terminal that could be easily doubled inside the building (the hotel is off to one end).

The radisson blue and Hampton by hilton are both right next to the terminal, less than 5 mins walk by covered walkway.

Having been to both i would say both are not slap bang next to the airport.
The Hampton is off to the left hand side as you view it from outside, down either a set of stairs or a lift depending what your poison is.
The Radisson is off to the right but is a flat walk to the terminal via the ramp that leads down to the railway station.
Both require a small walk.
Personally I would pick the Radisson all day long as its nicer anyway, plus you wont be doubling back on yourself at any point given where security control is.

Thank you all very much for the help.

i work at Stansted quite often, i was actually based there for 10years prior to moving locations and the visiting on and off for the past few years and I always stay at the Hampton.
As others have stated the Hampton is on the left of STN as you look at it and the Raddison on the right.
Security is on the left of the building so the Hampton is closer to security, this obviously doesn't take into consideration where the check in desk is.
The few times ive stayed at the Raddison ive always found it really dated and tired in the rooms, that being said the rooms in the Hampton are very small but bearable for one night, add to that you get a free breakfast with any rooms at the Hampton.
The walk to the Hampton is all on one level too, there is a lift down to the level the Hampton is located then approx a 5mins covered walk to the hotel
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
Ah yes thats worth noting at the Hampton, breakfast starts at 4am which is by far the earliest I have ever known at any airport hotel, and its not just a cold breakfast either. Handy if you have a 6am flight, can wolf something down on the way out.
My issue with the Hampton was reception was full of screaming children. Maybe I just got unlucky. The Radisson was more bearable.
