Broken laptop
I bought a laptop with 3 yrs warranty, it has 1 month warranty left and it has broken.
I Sent it off to the shop for diagnosis and they say the m.2 SSD drive has died.
They have acknowledged that the SSD is in manufactures warranty and have offered a refund of £73.
I have asked if it's under warranty why not replace it?
There reply was:-
Unfortunately, this SSD has now reached end-of-life status and is no longer in production. As a result, we do not have any stock available and are unable to offer a direct replacement.
The manufacturer has agreed to credit the drive under warranty; however, due to current market conditions and the increase in memory and storage prices, there is no like-for-like replacement available within the original purchase value of £73.00. Because of this, we are unable to source a suitable replacement drive under the warranty process.

It is a 2GB SSD and they are roughly double the price now.they mention they can sell me one and use the £73 in part payment
I was under the assumption that they still have to replace it for of the same type or better?
If anyone could help me out
Many thanks

There are no standard requirements for manufacturer warranties, so what do the Ts & Cs of this one state?

Is that assumption based on the terms of the warranty? Or just more of a desire?
If your assumption is supported outby the terms, then point that out to them.

"… I was under the assumption that they still have to replace it for of the same type or better?…"
You need to read the T&Cs of the warranty and see what it provides for when a component that is no longer in production fails.

Do not forget that they can reduce a refund for the near 3 years use that you have had from the Drive.

It is a 2GB SSD
Are you sure? That would be rather small. Maybe a 2 Tb one?

Many thanks for everyone that's commented.
I have been through the T&C of the shop and emailed them reminding them this.
Will see what they come back with

What does 7.3 say?

You say a 2TB SSD is double the price now but how much is a three year old 2TB SSD which is what you are should be looking at.
