sheet music

I have got some old sheet music and wonder whether anyone here would know where I could find out whether it is worth anything before I offer it on freecycle. I have looked on ebay but there is nothing on there at the moment and no completed sales.

Many thanks

there are 2 problems with sheet music. 1 its a very limited market and the 2nd is that the author/title may not be in demand.
the best way to sell sheet music is to sell it as a decor item. ie paste it onto a table and clear varnish it.

freecycle may not even shift it.

    sheet music
Are you referring to urban, rap, Westlife, Boyzone and the products of all those reality shows?

That is a phonetic joke. :D

Did you try searching all categories? Ebay categories are a bit weird sometimes. You'll find there's a sheet music category under Musical Instruments, where vintage sheet music can sometimes be sold successfully. THere are several active and completed listings there now. As with many items, it seems to be a bit hit-and-miss (as you'll see from Completed Listings), but worth a go.
Ormus' suggestion (as well as making me uncomfortable because I generally prefer to see vintage items preserved in their original undamaged condition, but that's just my personal feeling) also has the problem that something like a table decorated with sheet music could be almost impossible to sell on ebay because it can't easily be posted: however, if the covers are aesthetically attractive and the whole sheet is slim enough to be framed, it could be worth listing some in a secondary category such as Collectables> Vintage/ retro as potential decor items for framing.

i was thinking more of a coffee table size, not a 8 ft solid oak farmhouse dining table!:)
i think its viable if say using a small flatpack table. could be a nice little niche market business for someone on here?

the framed idea is good. also perhaps lampshades? the list is endless really.

  • If it's old enough to be copyright-free, you could even scan it and print copies on various different textured papers for craft projects, and maybe even sell the originals too.
