That sounds very sensible - the forecasts seem to be getting hotter by the day. All the best getting the document the insurers want from your doctor. Keep us updated!

My doctor's surgery says that it can take up to four weeks for her to produce the form.
Even if the insurers don't accept her letter and I lose my costs, I am thankful I did not travel. The heat seems to have been extreme.
To make matters worse, if I had travelled I would have gone on last Monday morning. On Monday afternoon, a cough that I had had for several days made me seek medical advice, and I was whisked into my nearby hospital for a few days and given intravenous antibiotics. I am now recovering slowly, but imagine what it would have been like if I had had to stay in a French hospital

Hopefully you weren't booked on this cruise:
If you were, it was a narrow escape!

Just to say that the insurers keep asking for more information, so I have nothing to report as yet.

I'm just wondering reference the amount of time it appears the doctor requires to produce an unfit to travel letter ?
Obviously it would be better to have it prior to the date of departure in order to cancel the booking - however, for insurance claim purposes would it not still be valid after the dates of travel if cancelled beforehand ?

Aviva took forever to look at my claim, and seemed to keep asking for information that I felt I had already provided.
But they have finally accepted my claim and repaid me.
With my age and health, travel insurance with Nationwide FlexPlus account and getting a quote for pre-existing conditions before opening the account works well. Much cheaper than Insurenadgo or similar firms.
I believe Nationwide Aviva are unusual among packaged accounts in not having an age limit.

Glad to hear that it all worked out!

Unique AFAIK.

I believe AllClear don't have an upper age limit.
