Tesco delivery if I was delayed getting home

Idle curiosity really. I have a big Tesco delivery (over £200) booked for a fixed hour slot 5-6 this afternoon. I also have an appointment on Portland at 2 o’clock, which should take about 90 minutes. Yesterday there was an incident which resulted in the only road on or off the island being closed for just over an hour. One of my Wide Awake Club wee small hours musings was what would happen if we weren’t back from the appointment when the shopping arrived - anyone know? (In reality if we found ourselves unavoidably delayed we have a lovely neighbour who would let them into our kitchen in an emergency. )

This is why having a RING (or similar) doorbell is useful as you could tell them where to take it.

driver should phone you, they'll either wait if youre not too delayed, or come back if their drops / route isn't too far away, or they'll return the shop to the store and you get refunded.

I realise that the time has passed but I had exactly this dilemma last year. I had a delivery scheduled for 5pm to a holiday home but was held up on the motorway due to an accident. I telephoned customer services and they arranged for the delivery to be returned to the store where I picked it up later that day. It must have been a common occurrence as they didn't bat an eyelid. I hope you got your delivery ok
