Tenancy deposit not returned, not protected
hi and I hope everyone is well.
me and my partner moved in to a house in 2012 and paid £2200 deposit. It was protected under mydeposite scheme. However my partner moved out in 2022 and the landlord gave me a new tenancy agreement with completely different t&C. She did not returned any deposit to my partner then and I was told that deposit is stilstill protected. I moved out in april 2025, always paid my rent. All the beds and rubbish furniture was thrown out with her consent. She did a inventory without me presented, 2 month after I left the house. She came up with £3300 cost. All none sense. I wonder if I have any chance to take her to court as she didn't reply.

Getting compensationYou could get compensation from your landlord or agent if they:
- did not protect your deposit with a scheme within 30 days
- did not give you written information about the scheme within 30 days
You could get:
- your deposit back
- up to 3 times your deposit amount in compensation
You might need to go to court to get compensation.

Have you contacted the my deposit scheme?
To add, the Landlord should have requested a joint tenant transfer from for you both to sign to transfer the deposit into your sole name along with the new tenancy.
I would contact my deposit and advise them if the full story and what they advise. The landlord would probably be exempt from what you do here as they have not followed the rules, however you may need to get your joint deposit partner to be involved with mydeposite.

so 1 year later why have you not followed the deposit return ("dispute") process with mydeposits?
