Going abroad for medical treatment

NHS Care (Subject to Approval)
- Pre-approved Surgery: If the surgery abroad was pre-approved and funded by the NHS (e.g., via the Planned Treatment Scheme), your follow-up and physiotherapy will be covered.
- Routine Private Surgery: If you paid for the operation yourself, the NHS is not obligated to provide your postoperative care. While your GP can refer you to NHS physiotherapy, you will join the standard waiting list, which can be lengthy. GPs generally cannot fast-track follow-ups for overseas private procedures.

that's not true. My cousin went abroad paying privately for surgery and was denied follow up care. Eventually 6 months later they put her on a waiting list for which she waited another 6 months for an appointment.

And that's exactly how it should be. She shouldn't be given priority over others that can't afford private care
