One last question, were you a fixed sum legatee under the Will, or a residuary beneficiary entitled to a share of the net estate?

If a fixed sum legatee, you are unlikely to have had any entitlement to estate income that may have arisen. That would have only been shared amongst residuary beneficiaries.

If no income was highlighted as part of your estate distribution, I see no need for you to query the executor about the possibility.

The executor may not be familiar with UK tax requirements but that's not your problem, you work with what you have received in good faith.

Since the executor has not directly notified you of any income then you could perhaps truthfully tick no.

However, since you were a residuary beneficiary of the estate you would be legally entitled to a copy of the estate accounts. If that shows estate income then you will have been indirectly informed of estate income and so would have to tick yes.

Were you sent a copy of the estate accounts, if not how do you know whether you received everything you were entitled to?
