Ireland

Hi

I'm looking to fly to Cork, Ireland on 12th or 14th March 08 and return on 18 March.

Has anyone had experience booking tickets there?

The cheapest outward ticket I could find was £6.99 (Ryanair) on the 12th, which I booked to be safe, but would ideally like to leave on the 14th if tickets were cheap enough. Haven't yet booked my flight coming home. I'm in London BTW.

I wonder if I should book now or wait? Which airlines fly there? Are they likely to have sales between now and then? St Paddy's day during that time!

We used to go with Ryan Air but flybe also go to Dublin if that's any good. They tend to be dearer though. It's usually a case of book early for cheaper prices - or has been for us. Might get v busy nearer the dates as you've said. St P is included then.

<DIV style="CLEAR: both">I found a cheap return, on Skyscanner, for about £23.00 including tax. Yet when I proceed through with the booking on Air Lingus's site, the price seems to bump up! Anyone know why?

(I realise they are quoting in Euros, so I'm not confused there. If you find my flight via Skyscanner, you'll see it advertised for £23.00 yet it goes up on the airline's site!)

Also, anyone familar with Air Lingus's 6 euro charge? What exactly is that for?

The prices tend to be higher around Paddy's Day, it's not likely you'll find a Ryanair sale for less that that.

The handling charge I think is the credit card fee and so on, although if there are flights leaving at different times of day you might find a cheaper option. Does that also include insurance or a checked bag?

The other thing is, do you have somewhere to stay? If not then book that before your flights, it can get full very quickly in Dublin (I've only been in Cork once but up here it's mental for that whole week).

its unlikely eother will have a sale round st patricks day. not only is it this marvellous ocassion but also just before easter so is always busy.
best advice would be book a flight at a price you are happy with.

    Have a look here - http://www.aerarann.com/

they're having a sale at the moment - about £33 each way and no baggage fees. Used them to fly to galway tons of times and they're alright
