Best place to get legal advice?
Options
I was involved in a car accident and have been informed that the police are investigating. I am concerned I may get charged with careless driving and wondered if any of you guys had any advice on where to get good legal advice.
I have searched the net and there are a mutitude of 'specialist' companies, has anybody had any experience of this one http://www.motorlawyers.co.uk/ or any others that you may recommend?
Many thanks

Almost all insurance policies have legal expenses bolted on via a legal team that have been vetted by the insurance company. Get your policy documents out.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -

Yup, fully insured and all legal :T but, I didn't think my legal cover would represent me in a possible driving offence case...0 -

I'd check the documentation?

I have been through it with a magnifying glass and it seems to be more for supporting claims for uninsured losses and losses from third parties where own insurance doesn't cover... However, I will call them and find out...0

Personally I wouldn't do anything until you hear you are going to be charged. Except try and contact any witnesses that might help. The police these days seem to be too busy filling forms etc and it might not come to anything.0

That is what I thought, especially as the officers at the scene just said to let the insurance companies deal with it... Then I get a letter 6 weeks later saying they are investigating!
I accept I am probably worrying a little too much at this stage but just want to be prepared in the event of a summons landing on my door mat. If that does happen, I will take legal advice, and still need pointing in the right direction of a reputable firm should the need arise...0 -

Correct. Normally motor legal protection policies only provide costs of recovering uninsured losses from a third party.
Check with your insurer though, because your standard motor policy may cover you for prosecution defence if the insurers consent to it. However, they usually only agree to this if the outcome of the case could prejudice their position on liability to other parties in high-reserve claims (e.g. personal injury to third parties).0 -
