Removing bird poo from paving stones
Our back garden is paved over and over the years - it has been pooped on by thousands of birds - from seagulls to sparrows - leaving it with thousands of white spots !
We have tried scrubbing and using chemicals (such as Patio Magic - spray and leave) - this hasn't touched the mess.
We can't use a pressure washer due to the grouting being ready mixed brushed in jointing compound, and the chap who made it told us at the time not to use a pressure washer or the compound would be removed).
What can we do to clean these slabs?
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

Don't pressure wash the joints, easy enough to do, I manage block paving with minimal intrusion into the joints.
Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.
Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.

Plus - we don't even own a pressure washer

You would be better dealing with why there is so much faecal matter on the slabs first. Is someone leaving out bird food or scraps to attract birds?
Having that much mess around your washing pole cannot be very hygenic.

The only solution is a pressure washer - if you don't have one you'll have to buy one!

Was about to say the same, should scrub off.

It looks like lichen, bird mess largely washes away in the rain. Pressure wash or hands and knees with a scrubbing brush

It looks like lichen to me too.
I've seen people trying to remove it thinking it was surface stain.
If it is bird poo try an area in shade with neat washing up liquid scrub in with a stiff brush and leave for an hour or two before rinsing off.
Trouble is you'll still have a clean area in the middle of grubby ones!
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I agree that is lichen

Get some 45% vinegar and spray it on, or use a bucket and deck brush.
