Can you post a copy of the drawing you provided, redacting any personal details and road names?
Likewise a redacted screenshot from google maps of the road covering an area say 200m either side of the driveway.
Also, was it clear where your boundaries are and where neighbouring properties start? (the third-party land comment)

I think that I've realised what I'm confused on, is the Y distance the total left and right added, i.e. 160m total so. 80 metres either side. Or is it 160m left and 160m right.

'y' metres in each direction - so if 'y'=160m then it is 160m to the left and 160m to the right.
