Carflow PCN - But I was kind of in the wrong
Hi!
Thanks for this incredible thread and world of knowledge, I’ve been reading through the FAQs and threads for hours. Now, I would just like some advice from you veterans.
I recently received a PCN from Carflow (sent to my address). It's a camera system, 90 minutes free car park. Over 90 minutes you have to pay the entire stay incl. the 90 minutes. I should’ve paid £6.20 for the 2 hours and 17 minutes I stayed for. I payed £4.30, as I didn’t calculate it correctly and was 17 minutes over the £4.30 for 2 hours. Those systems are made to confuse you so they can issue PCNs, why am I having to do maths in a car park? I have dyscalculia. Anyway!
I appealed online saying their signage and systems are nonsensical (I said it in a much more eloquent way) (didn’t claim I was the driver!) which, of course, got rejected. Anyway, I’m kind of planning on just ignoring it now since it’s a private car park and where I’m from in Germany those cases never go to court, most people just ignore the letters and debt collectors entirely. What’s your advice? I am in the wrong for miscalculating in all fairness.

You're not in the wrong. It sounds a ridiculous system even for non-dyscalculia people.
If you still have an address in Germany I would inform them the name of the driver (even if it's you) and give an address in Germany and instruct them to ERASE any address they hold for you in the UK under GDPR 2016/679.The last part is important.
