Child Travel Insurance

Hi All

Wife has annual worldwide insurance and is travelling to USA in July. Would now like to bring 11 year old grandchild with her. Is it possible to get single trip cover for a child, and if so, with who? Or is it better to just add child to existing policy?

TIA

Yes, obviously they cant buy it themselves but there's a lot of providers who will let you buy a policy for a dependent child. For example:

Your probably not going to be able to add a child who's not living with you to an individual policy, they may allow you to cancel the current policy and then buy a group one but arent obliged to unless you are in the cooling off period.

Most insurers allow the policyholder and traveller to be different persons and given they are minor I doubt any insurer would allow them to buy their own so this is what you need to do

ask the wife’s policy company if you can add a grandchild.
