Volume Cash Withdrawals
hi,
I have an account with Halifax and want to withdraw ~£80k in cash.
I don’t mind withdrawing in multiple stages due to the large amount of money, but Halifax are refusing to allow me without a proof of purchase invoice for whatever I want to spend it on.
I have a friend who works for TSB and they advised the bank has no legal authority to refuse such a request, they just PREFER to see proof of what it’s going towards for peace of mind and to ensure I am not under pressure, or am being scammed etc. She advised if I signed a waiver I’d be fine but Halifax are adamant I have to provide evidence.
Can someone confirm if this is correct, or how I may actually get MY money out without having to provide documented proof of what I will use it for.
Any guidance welcome thank you.

Why on earth do you want 80k in cash?

does it matter?
I want to buy a lot of reclaimed raw materials to build something on my property, I want to buy a car from a friend. Where I live cash is king and helps enormously.

If you're buying things over a period, draw the cash out over that time. I find it hard to believe you'd need to spend £80k on materials in one day
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.1 -
yes you’re correct. I’ve said I’m happy to draw it out in multiple visits, but my question is about Halifax’s stance.

You can blame idiots being scammed for their stance, they now have to apply it across the board. Granny going in to draw £10k out to pay to some travelling folk who claim to be sorting her guttering out, and then do a runner with it.

If they don't want to tell their bank they're clearly not going to tell you!

do you have planning permission?

why can't you pay for the building materials with debit card or bank transfer?

but they already did - the difference is that on here they are anonymous.

is this a serious question? Did I ask for advice on how to build an extension?
