I wouldn’t expect the current versions to work reliably on Windows 7.

Use an older Rufus, specifically Rufus 3.22, which was the last version to support Windows 7

Why would someone have been running W7? There have been free upgrades to W10 for years.

because iv'e been a luddite with this. however, you have made me have a look at it seems its still possible for free.

i'm continuing with my plan to try Linux on a new SSD and once thats done and i'm happy i may well give the W upgrade a try and keep it on the 2nd SSD.

i almost feel, modern.

I upgraded my old PC. It is now compatible to install windows 11, but I prefer 10. I dislike 365 and other add ons :-(
