    They must apply for their own grant. (double probate). If you wish to revoke your position you can do that also.

    As poseidon1 suggests, reserving power would mean that you could take back control if the administering beneficiary died or became ill, and then complete yourself or allow another beneficiary to complete. Provides an additional safeguard.

    Otherwise it could mean the beneficiary acting as admin's own executor or administrator having to pick it up at a time they are also bereaved.
