Why do Nationwide make it so difficult to open a Flex One Account for a teenager?

I think to some extent that is the MSE bubble of people who know how to game the system to be fairly certain of a 'win'. The wider membership - some number higher than about 12 million - who didn't get the money are likely less keen on the idea.

I wonder who is the boomer in this instance ? The op or his/her daughter ?

ppl like Maegi think boomers travelled on horses and fought with swords. The first computer we've had in our house was 1989, I vividly remember it despite being 4yrs old at the time, when dad's company decommissioned those machines and offered him to take his home for a brand new one. Good old days 🥰
I'm FTB, not an expert, all my comments are from personal experience and not a professional advice.Mortgage debt start date 11/2024 = 175k (5.19%)... Q1/2026 = PAID (3.94%)2 -
Calling in person to open an bank account, especially for a kid ((go on- scream at me, calling anyone under 20 one…(come to think of it some never become responsible adults…never!) ANW, I digress) should be mandatory for many, including discipline, responsibility reasons… that is if the actual physical bank branches are about …

As a boomer, I find your suggestion at best rather uninformed, and at worst offensive.

Probably neither of them 🤣

Very much so. I've had the £100 annually but would rather have my shareholding liquid (i.e. a PLC) or go back into very competitive products and decent systems rather than chucking £100 at a lucky few.
Whilst I'm sure some random poster will point out one of the rare exceptions, the vast majority of Nationwide's products are similar or worse than other comparable providers.

I would have the Nationwide RS even if there was no likelihood of an annual bonus. Apart from that, there is no need to keep any other money for any length of time in Nationwide, so it doesn't matter that they rarely have any other market leading products. Fairer Share also doesn't prevent me from having any number of savings and current accounts with other providers.
I am not comparing the Fairer Share with investments as these are a completely different and separate matter, not affected in any way by Fairer Share.
