HSBC Premier Transferring VLS40 S&S ISA...

Hi All

I've opened an HSBC Premier and need to meet the conditions by having £100k of 'investments'.

What I'd like to do is transfer £100k of my existing Vanguard S&S ISA to HSBC and invest in a similar, self-managed way. Can anyone offer any advice on how to do this?

Most of the links and help guides ask me whether I'm interested in a GIC or DirectInvest account. I don't know.

I am assuming the best course of action is to liquidate £100k of the S&S ISA into cash within the ISA account and somehow transfer it. Would I have to transfer the entire account though, or could I transfer just some (100k) of it?

Finally, what would be the HSBC S&S Product closest to a UK-centric VLS40 or 60?

HSBC seem to ask you to choose between 2 different HSBC Products:

Which one is closest to a VLS 'style' of investment and management. I've heard the GIC is expensive as a fund platform whereas InvestDirect is a bit clunky but cheaper… I'll call their "ISA specialist" team in the morning but can anyone add with their own experience?

Thanks

I don't really have the answers to your questions but since HSBC cannot even manage to transfer cash to cash ISAs, I would definitely never consider transferring anything into their S&S ISA, or holding another ISA with HSBC. I do have some HSBC Global Strategy funds in my S&S portfolio, on different platforms, they come sort of close to some LifeStrategy accounts. The HSBC funds are ok, it's just the HSBC ISA administration, and particularly their ISA transfer handling, which sucks quite badly.
