Serious issue with my Barclays Business Barclaycard.

Sorry, but any business that runs up £18k of debt because they assumed a payment was covering the balance clearly has insufficient processes in place. If you spend £2k in a month and the following month only, say, £200 goes out that should be obviously wrong.
By your own admission there was a 'lot of transactions' - if I couldn't see that detail anyway I'd have been asking questions long before now.
IMHO, only yourself to blame. I'll leave it at that.

As a comparison: Capital On Tap sends us an email each month to tell us "the [pdf] statement is now ready to download", but the email also helpfully includes a (lengthy) summary with such info as: Opening balance, Spend activity, Repayment activity, Interest, Closing balance, Minimum due, Payment due date. Then, days later, another email comes to warn that the DD is scheduled to come out on such Date for such Amount (in our case, full balance amount, which should match the Closing balance on the previous email), from our Bank account ending -xxxx.

Sounds like rather too much information to be sending in an open email.
Most banks etc don't even put full account numbers in emails.
