Housing benefit and bank statements
I have been told to supply bank statements including full transaction details as evidence to support my Housing benefit claim. Is this legal or do I have to supply them?

It's quite common for claimants to be asked to produce bank statements when making a claim or when a claim is reviewed. If you don't supply them your claim could be refused or closed.

Of course you dont have to supply them.
You wont get help towards your rent if you dont, though.

in part they are looking to see if you are jiggling money around to try to hide it.
which is not an unreasonable request.

when I first applied they asked for 3 months bank statements…..my first payment was backdated 3 months.
it's also normal to have a full review every year and asked to see current bank statements
