Are any banks known for having transactions pending where others don't?

What I mean is for example, whenever a payment has been sent to my Chase it's always ended up there. No matter the day or time. Instantly.

HSBC on the other hand has at times had it lingering. Halifax was another.

I'll hopefully be selling a car today & have agreed on a bank transfer for easiness. The sum will be £1400.

I don't want it going in to the Chase account ideally. I want it in the HSBC. But at the same time I don't want to be stood there while they've 'paid' and I've not received so we're just staring at each other forever.

It hasn't happened a lot but it's happened. Just wondering if there's known banks to avoid really or why it even happens in the first place as I obviously want to avoid it.

I mean if you are that worried just get him to pay to the Chase one, and move it along yourself later on?

Ive never had issues with Halifax either.

By 'pending' do you mean that the credit has a status of 'pending' when you check your transaction listing or do you mean that the credit is just slow to appear on your account?

Can't see why you would have a problem with it going to Chase - can't be eaten by an overdraft because Chase don't allow them.

Don't normally see a delay of more than a minute or so when moving cash between the usual banks, although using Lloyds/BoS/Halifax around midday yesterday would have been problematic.

If the payment is from a company then you should be fine.

A one off large payment could trigger the AML bots at your or the sender's bank and delay things.

    I meant status of pending.

In the end I just used Chase & immediately transferred out. All good.
