Ceiling fans for normal light fittings

We have a Meaco desk fan on my dressing table. Not the cheapest brand, but it does the trick and really is almost silent at settings 1 & 2.

Tower fans tend to be more noisy generally. A pedestal or desk fan, are quieter as long as you do not buy the very cheap ones and stick to the lower speed settings.

We also have a Meaco fan - 1056. We can have it as high as 4 overnight and it doesn't bother us, even if wee have the lateral and vertical oscillation on.

I don't own a Meaco fan but I do own one of their dehumidifiers & am very impressed with it.
I got a Vacmaster Cardio54 fan for when on the bike which was a bit costly (but I guess not as far as bike fans CAN be) & is a great bit of kit … but it's noisy, even on the lowest setting.
I'll take a look at fans with blades. I was considering an A/C unit for the summer but from what I've read they're a bit noisy.

We have a ceiling fan, came with the house, its main advantage is that its much quieter at moving the same volumes as air because the blades are so much bigger (its about 1.3m across)
Ours can spin in either direction, one is supposed to be for summer and one for winter but never bothered with the later and switching the direction throws up a lot of dust.
Think the thing in the original image would be rubbish. Our ceiling is plasterboard suspended on an aluminium frame, no idea if it goes into just the board or part of the frame but it's not fallen in the 8 years we've been here.

Not sure about the specific fan linked, but we have always had a bedroom ceiling fan and couldn't live without it through much of spring/summer. It makes sleeping so much more comfortable.
In our current house, when we moved in we bought a plug in ceiling fan with integrated light, which meant we simply had to slightly widen the existing hold in the ceiling where the old light fitting was, so that we could put the cable through and plug it in in the loft. It's remote controlled so is very easy to use.
Link to the one we bought - except ours is white -
