Hi all. I had an old Samsung phone and needed an upgrade and changed to a Motoraola and the switch of apps (even logging in), background, ringtones and everything was seemless. However, I didn't really get on with the Motorola so have bought a Samsung A35. However, I'm having real issues switching over. It seems to be frcing me to use Smart Switch which transfers my apps over (doesn't sign in on them) but not my background/ringtones etc. I've tried not linking it to the old phone when I get the option in oredr to try and do it manually but it doesn't let me. I've reset it twice now but I have to log in to Google and then it transfers the apps over. When I try to open Adroid Switch (which is what I used before I think) it says I can't open it once setup is complete. It's driving me mad. Can anyone help please?

My old faithful the Galaxy M31s recently died and I bought the A36 which may have been a better option than your A35,
    same price but better spec?

Setting mine up I could not do the smart switch due to the old phone being stuck in a boot loop. I have noticed that the Samsung
and Google apps are far more aggressive in data collection and sharing. I really liked the way the Samsung email worked and
mostly only used the widget where I could check the emails and delete the advert/offer ones and general mail that is only
useful occasionally but it refused to go past the screen of it MUST check my contacts and I declined it's permission to read them.

I do not link my emails to my contact list so the email app does NOT need to check my contacts, if it was less aggressive I would
possibly have just installed the email app but I found a 3rd party one and paid for it.

Noticed a few other apps that I never updated are now obsolete or want too much information or too many added adverts.

You say Android Switch, do you mean the Samsung Switch app? Have you tried that one if not? I set my phone up except some email
account I have yet to add and I can still run the Samsung Smart Switch app. Are you transferring from the Motorola or the older Samsung?
I had an issue years back where the old Samsung needed the older version of the Smart Switch but that was not compatible with the
    new Samsung phone.

Android Switch is an app and it seemed to work if switching to the Motorola but if switching to the Samsung, it seems to only let you use the Samsung Smart Switch app which doesn't transfer everything over. It also doesn't seem to give me the option to set it up as a new phone (i.e. not transfer from another one) otherwise I could probably just use a third party app.
