Door companies - which to choose and avoid?

Hello,

Just going mad with a number of companies out there manufacturing doors. Looking for a new external door for a north facing entrance of the porch.

I have requested quotes from 3 people locally and they have mentioned the below companies

1)Hallmark
2)Distinction
3)Endurance
4)Universal composite doors (https://universalcompositedoors.co.uk/)
4)Force8

As its north facing thinking of going with composite door rather than solid core.

I understand that even bigger companies like hallmark manufacture substandard doors where the colour fades and door warps. Any advice and suggestions how to get a long lasting door (more than 25 years) with extra spec / add ons when requesting for quote

The person supplying from universal composite doors also accepts credit card. Does paying with credit card help at all as I am not buying directly from the supplier.

What independent companies do you have local to you that you can visit to see the doors they have and talk to the staff?

I'd use one of them, not a national outfit

Just to throw in an alternative to uPVC or composite- How about a steel door ?

I've used Latham's for a garage door. Multipoint locking (including bolts top & bottom), high security lock, and vandal resistant. The also do household doors with or without glass (for a price).

Paying a supplier by credit card gives you a little bit more protection as you can hold the card issuer jointly liable should there be a problem. Although, it gets messy if you are purchasing the door and paying someone separately for installation.

We have Rock Doors front and back and they are pricey but excellent and very secure

Yes i have known that they are at the pricier end, Can you please let me know how much did it cost and which design you choose. I am getting quotes between 1700 and 2100 for the above companies.

Interesting, Haven't seen steel door as an option.
