Powergen Energy Online Question ?

I'm currently with British Gas Duel Fuel paying on receipt of the bills. I'm thinking of changing to Powergen's Energy Online  tariff.

I gather I read my own meters once a quarter and I'm billed once a quarter . If I'm billed quarterly how does the Monthly Direct Debit work ? Do i pay in advance ? What happens if you are/have paid too much or under-payed etc ?

Apparently this switch would save me 35%/£123 a year.

Any views on Powergen's  Online Tariff or advice greatly appreciated  ;)
PS- How much are the Club Card points worth ? You get 1000 points, so how much off in Tesco would this give me ? Whats a Club Card Point worth ? lol ???

    point 2;

Club card points are not worth much in tesco, but used toward RAC cover etc they are worth loads more.

    Point 1.

A monthly DD works by dividing your estimated yearly useage into 12 little lumps. During the winter you pay less than you use, during the summer you pay mor ethat you use. This means that depending on when you start your DD, you'll either be in credit most of the year (spring start) or in debt most of the year (autumn start)

Any excess is refunded back to you and DD lowered the following year, but any debit is spread out during the next year.

N.b if your usage was 30 pound per year but you paid 20 pound.....then you would need to pay 40 pound the following year to catch up (10 for the debt and 30 to avoid future debt).

DD's don't pay interest or charge interest, but their savings compared to 'normal' bills are good.

P.s did the comparison take into consideration the 28 pounds that BGT give you in prompt payment?

Thanks for that Pak Man ;) I've used most of the price comparisons and all are coming out at £123 per year saving, except for Uswitch which is £113. Uswitch is the only one though which has the British Gas Duel Fuel Prompt Payment tariff option. so maybe Uswitch is more accurate. Still a good saving though :D I used my annual kWh too so that should make it more accurate too.
Do you know if i can set my own direct debit level ? Or do Powergen decide this ?
    Many Thanks Once Again :)

Powergen will suggest a DD amount, but will value your input.

Powergen normally suggest a payment level but within reason you can override it with your own suggestion. (They have a beautiful scenario where after every summer they say "You've hardly used anything lets reduce your payments to £1 pm" until you point out winter to them.

That said I'm having a nightmare with them at moment since changing banks, they haven't set up new DD properly so every month they request £30 from some unknown source, every month it doesn't arrive so they remove the fictitious credt from my account each month. Just tried contacting them this morning but an oh so wonderful foreign call centre.

Me: "Hello, I'm having trouble getting my DD payments working, you haven't set them up properly so every month you take nothing."
CS: "OK so you would like to increase payments?"
Me: " No I just want you to take a payment."
    CS: "What now?"
    Me: "No, every month"
    CS: "But we do"
Me: "No you don't, every month you claim it but nothing transfers."
CS: "So you want to increase payment"
    Me:"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" >:( >:( >:(
