Event cancelled, no refund for booking fee

hi, I had booked tickets to a fan park for an England World Cup game, the cost was £30 for the tickets, £6 booking fee and £0.80 handling fee.
The tickets were booked through Skiddle (the only option for booking)

I’ve had an email today saying the event has been cancelled, and they will be refunding the tickets at face value, so I am out of pocket £6.80.

They have offered a credit for the booking fee but I’m not interested in this.

How can I go about recovering the £6.80 booking and handling costs.

Are you entitled to them? The terms may say that the booking fee was to cover the administration of the booking, and the handling fee is similar. I've seen other threads on here where it's normal for such fees to not be refunded.

Assuming you paid by card, there may be a chargeback option. You can always ask your bank.

You could try and make a complaint but don’t hold your breath.

Skiddle’s argument is that they delivered their bit of the service (booking the ticket and getting you your spot), so their contract with you is complete.
So they can keep the booking fee because the cancellation is down to the promoter not to them. They offer the credit to help them argue that you’re not losing money unfairly.
