Equifax Credit File
Has anyone checked their Equifax credit file recently and noticed whether a CIFAS marker is showing?
I have a CIFAS registration that appeared on both my TransUnion and Experian reports, but there was no trace of it on my Equifax file. After raising the issue and getting nowhere, I took my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service and the outcome was in my favour.
The case has been ongoing for several months, but Equifax is now testing a fix. CIFAS confirmed that credit reference agencies obtain this information directly from the CIFAS database, so it appears Equifax had not been doing this correctly. Equifax initially told me I would need to take the matter up with CIFAS, but CIFAS and I were able to demonstrate that the issue sat with Equifax.
It has made me wonder whether this problem is affecting others as well. Has anyone else with a CIFAS registration checked their Equifax report and found that the marker was missing?
