Using A Credit Card For Safe Puchases Instead of Paypal

The Lloyds isn't one I actively use, as it was taken out to spread the cost at 0% module with the OU (rather than raiding my savings) the app is perfectly straightforward to use.
I do use the AMEX and find the app straightforward - I don't really have a problem with any banking app though, I have Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Moneybox, Chip, Chase... I don't really have a preference as to which is easier or not.
I contacted AMEX once to ask if my payment could be taken early in the month - this was no problem at all. It took a couple of goes via the app with Lloyds for the same request, but I think the first time I was probably doing it at the wrong point in the cycle.

It's always been more use early after the transaction - I used it when a retailer sent the wrong thing but claimed they hadn't, when i returned a online transaction (trainers) to their store but they didn't process my refund and a click n collect where only a partial order was received at the pick up store. The click n collect retailer did actually refund me a few months later and PayPal simply debit equalling their earlier refund.
They were too low value for S75, probably would have worked for chargeback but each time got a refund from PayPal within a couple of days with minimum hassle.
I actually used it to pay for my new phone as paying with PayPal got £100 off.

Not technically true, M&S Bank is just a trading style of HSBC UK Bank PLC, they have a licensing agreement with M&S to use their branding. Its not another legal entity owned by HSBC
There are many ways these things can be structured, Tesco Bank started as a JV with RBS with them creating a new legal entity owned by the two companies with Tesco later on buying RBS out of the deal and now Barclays buying Tesco out
