Duplicate Ulster accounts

Over the weekend I applied for an Ulster bank current account, ID accepted etc and all looking ok.

I woke up this morning to find several texts and multiple emails advising account being open, card on way and PIN number coming , but upon closer inspection it would appear that Ulster have opened two accounts for me.

Is there any upside or downside to them creating two accounts?

I don’t really need or want this account, as just trying it on for a switch offer from one of my Chase accounts.

I’m not quite sure if there are any implications or benefits to have 2 accounts

Any thoughts thanks ?

I would ring them, it could be system issue.

Do you mean Ulster opened two Select accounts for you? I thought you can only have one Select account with Ulster though I can't find any restriction in their general T&Cs.

Have you been given two account numbers?

I would wait until you can log into their online banking or app. You can just close the extra one through Cora. Make sure the one you close isn't the one you're switching in to!

Keep them both, use one of them for a switch offer to another bank when a sutiable offer appears (e.g. FFirst Direct seem to have a near permanent switch offer).

There is nothing illegal, or against the Ulster / Natwest T&Cs, to have more than one current account.
