What do peope think of these refund policies

I bought some dishwasher tablets, but they leave a film on my diswasher, and cutlery.

I have contacted them for a refund as they are not fit for purpose and not as described as they should be all in one, yet the response was add salt. I am not in a hard water area,

They say because I opened them I can't have my money back and they are part of a discounted pack so the pack is no longer intact. The pack was not sealed it was simply 6 boxes in the shipping container!

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Their returns policy states they don't take returns on a 'personal preference" basis - which I think your issue falls under.

    Exceptions / Non-Returnable Items

    We cannot accept returns on:

Sale items (unless faulty or damaged)

    Gift cards

Products returned due to personal preference (e.g. smell, taste, texture)

Have you tried using them with a different cycle in your dishwasher? Or perhaps an additional rinse?

Which product exactly did you buy? There are a lot of different dishwasher products on that site.

Have you tried adding salt as they suggest? Is your rinse aid fully topped up?

So did you buy them as 6 items or 1 multi-pack?

The problem in my mind is that there are multiple things going on at the same time and whilst the combination of the dishwasher, your chosen programme, tablets and the other setup factors of your machine are giving less than perfect results its not robust enough to say its definitely the tablets fault.

Just an observation .. all-in-one dishwasher tabs are supposedly intended to be just that - all-in-one. You shouldn't need to add salt, rinse aid* etc. 🤷‍♀️

    * hard water areas notwithstanding

We run our dishwasher with the water supplied via an ion exchange water softener. Regardless of which brand of dishwasher "tablets" we use, we still find the results are better if the dishwasher salt and rinse aid are kept topped up.

In fact, for the OP, it could be the rinse aid that is causing the film.

With regard to the return - there should be a return for "any or no reason" but the OP would need to return everything and that is no longer possible. The point around having purchased a "6-pack" but only receiving 6 individual units is irrelevant. The pricing is - presumably - something like £1 each, "6-pack" £5.50 so if the OP only returned 5 of the 6 there is no immediately obvious price to be refunded (though many simple solutions). It is not uncommon now that the "6-pack" has no wrapper as that is better for the environment. Even some supermarket items are trying that same approach - baked beans is one example.

It does depend on what exactly the OP bought - but we use an all in one and add both salt and rinse aid.

I'd also be interested to know which cycle is being used...

My mum complains the dishwasher stuff is rubbish but only ever uses a quick cycle - rather than a standard or eco. I use eco mostly, but run a standard once a week as I find using eco only for longer than that causes a bit of a whiff to develop.

Brand can vary a lot too, we used to use Finish but that left film over the dishes, Fairy on the other hand has been great.
