Claims Time Frame

Hi all,

I have a claim form from CNBC for a PCN (DCB LEGAL).

The time sequence is…

Issue date: 18 MAY 2026

Acknowledgement of service: 1 JUNE 2026

I have worked through all the good advice here and I am ready to put in a defence through MCOL.

But my dilemma is this… I am on holiday for 2 weeks, 6 June to 20 June and I am concerned that a N180 form could be sent while i am away and I will be left with little time to respond.

I think I have until about the 20th June to file my defence but would rather have this done before i go on holiday.

So my question is this….

How long, in peoples experience, does it take from filing a defence to recieving the N180 from CNBC?

Firstly, if its 18th May then the deadline for submission is 33 days later, so 20th June

The CNBC are likely to post the N180 to you some 4 to 8 weeks later, but all you really need to do is keep checking your MCOL claim history, to see when its been posted, then email the downloaded pdf document to the DQ email address, doesn't matter where you are if you can access MCOL

yes I have read on the forum about downloading the form and checking MCOL progress. But I'm hoping to avoid working on my defence while away.

The 4 to 8 weeks is a help though. Is this generally other peoples experience?

Well, The defence is a simple copy and paste of the 11 paragraphs defence template by mse member meltof posted on 12th April , into the defence box on MCOL, save and submit

Yes, thats exactly what I have done. So thanks for confirming that.

Its just the N180 coming when I'm away that is my concern.

I will only have my phone with me, and I will have to bring paperwork.

A high class problem maybe.

So I was hoping that a few people can give their experience of that time span between posting defence and receiving the N180.

Even if you submitted your defence today, or this week, the CNBC are not going to send the N180 before you come back. !

I would copy and paste the template defence into the box and save it, then submit it just before you leave, or submit it whilst away, no paperwork involved

If you can access the Internet from your hotel or a cafe, you can login to check your MCOL claim history and progress, you could even download the N180 pdf document this week, fill it in and save it, copy onto your phone, and email it when your claim history states that the CNBC posted it, so again, no paperwork

There is a current tsunami of Smart Parking claims. So much so, that I now have copy & paste advice ready:

just click on the username @Meltof

Copy their version of a Smart Parking final defence posted on April 12th. 

Obviously, as they didn't use the POFA, theres no keeper liability possible with Smart. These claims are all the same (none go to hearings) and the sheer numbers of Smart Parking claim threads - about 4 or 5 EVERY DAY here - have driven us regulars a bit mad in April/May with this batch!
