Successful story- Medical Travel Insurance whilst pending investigations for undiagnosed conditions.
Was looking everywhere this morning to try and find where I could find medical travel insurance whilst being on a waiting list for referral to a specialist after my usual medical insurance company wouldn't insure. So many threads came up with no definitive answers so after my success this afternoon I thought I would share to hopefully help others.
Firstly I stumbled across the site https://www.biba.org.uk/find-insurance/
Spoke with an agent via live chat and he was very helpful and put me through to https://www.allcleartravel.co.uk/ via phone. Saved calling each and every company and the advisor at All Clear was brilliant. Obviously they won't insure my undiagnosed condition but other companies refused point blank to insure anyway as I was on a waiting list for further investigations. All Clear did insure my other medical conditions and once investigations have taken place and if a new diagnosis is made then I just have to call them back to inform. My premium may go up but it's worth getting the cover for other situations anyway. If nothing is found and no diagnosis is made you can call them and your premium "may" go down. Who knows, but the main thing is I have cover.
I ended up taking out an European Annual Policy with Cruise cover and companion cover as it's possible after our main holiday we may go on another cruise in the near future. There are various policies but I went for the Gold Plus for around £185. It was only £50 or so more expensive than the single trip policy without cruise cover. There are other options, cheaper ones too but those tended to have a higher excess.
Sure it's more expensive than the norm when you aren't on any waiting lists, but I have noticed travel insurance is rising the last few years anyway. Think my usual policy has jumped from £25 for a week to around £70 for a week in a few years so £185 for a full years European cover with Cruise plus declared medical conditions and being on a waiting list felt like a pretty good deal even if I use it only once. I was certainly prepared for £300 upwards.

Glad you got what you needed.
Personally have never found the BIBA directory very helpful with many referrals to totally inappropriate brokers but good that you had a different experience

I may have got lucky with whoever was on live chat. I usually go via Just Travel Cover which Diabetes.co.uk were in partnership with but they wouldn't insure at all if you were on a waiting list, but since 2024 I had seen an upward rise in premiums anyway despite not being on a waiting list at that time. £18.14 to £29.69 to £53.47 and the Infinity Gold one I usually got strangely on a quote "without being on a waiting list" just out of interest was coming out at £59.59 for a week and £116.44 for two weeks so £185 with All Clear seems a good deal for an annual policy with cruise cover and being on a waiting list.
