Genuine?
Returned home after some weeks away to find this (opened) in my mail. It was addressed to a sadly now deceased family member at an address he used to live at near me some years ago. It is now an air B&B so I can only assume given the delay from letter date, that the owners were up at some point recently and knew to put it thru my door. Nothing written on envelope re it being opened.
Thought I'd ask here before contacting them, firstly if it's likely to be genuine...I think it is as I know he had psion shares around late 90's, and secondly if there's another way to claim this direct without using MUFG.
As mentioned above, the person is deceased (2022), no probate was required and no share certificates found when clearing flat.
Thanks.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that.....
The address is correct, his middle names used are correct and he 100% had psion shares at one point.
31st April I assumed was a typo given the above.

Well if it is genuine you have to hope the 15% admin fee is not a typo for 75% or whatever. 🤔
15% plus VAT on £750 = £135, so quite a nice little remainder for whoever is entitled to receive it. There may be further costs in admin to claim for a deceased person than it is really worth

A search of the contact phone number comes up as legitimate for Link Assets Services.

Yes, the form requires grant of probate to be sent which of course we don't have as it wasn't required. Also seems to be a few possible extras under fees which could easily eat away at the remainder...hence wondering if it can be claimed without using MUFG.

I suspect you have the missed the boat for a potentially more cost effective means to access Psion share proceeds, from the original UK registrar's Equiniti.
They would have likely held dissenter shareholder cash for up to 12 years post takeover, but thereafter forfieture proceedings in favour of the Treasury would commence.
The takeover was 2012, so MUFG's 31 April deadline for action allows for an extra 2 years grace beyond Equiniti's holding period.
However, even if a direct approach to Equiniti were still possible they would require an indemnity premium for the lost certificate ( currently £150 for shares up to £1000), although you might have been able to overcome lack of probate via their Small Estates Service.
