(I'm a parent) Student loan question

My daughter has a conditional offer to get into uni.

At present, it's looking like she may not get the required grade in her main subject to take up her place.

What happens with her student loan application if that is the case? Is it cancelled? Do we have to do that or is it automatically done? Would she be able to able to apply again in a year if she were to do A-Level resits?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You would cancel & then reapply. Your DD could get something through clearing though.

hi @BurgerFest and welcome to the forum.

Good luck to your daughter. The mechanism for paying your daughter the loan only kicks in when she registers at the uni. So if she doesn’t secure a place the loan isn’t paid out and the application would be cancelled. You don’t need to do anything.

For reference my daughter also did not get the required grade she needed for her uni place but was still offered the place. This will no doubt vary on uni and course, but often there is some flexibility on grades and final offers once exam results are known.
