Did you lose many on appeal Rob?

I don't remember the exact number now, I think it was something like 9 complaints that were all rejected by the lender, and then three were upheld by the FOS and six were rejected. One of them was with Nationwide and they were extremely difficult, dragging things out as much as they could and I had to escalate it all the eay to FOS ombudsman level. That one took two years overall but after the ombudsman gave their provisional decision Nationwide offered to refund £16k on interest. It all comes down to individual circumstances so you can't really get an idea of how successful you might be by looking at someone else, it does show that persistence can pay off and how difficult lenders can be though.

Thanks Rob. This is really helpful and insightful to hear.
