Your scenario doesn't match the discussion; you have only have one event / one date of loss (your car accident on 1st June)

We're discussing two events / two dates of loss (i.e. the two treatment dates) - each of which occurred in a different policy year (and this will be in the T&Cs of the policy)

There is quite a big difference in that if your car needs maintenance, you pay that yourself not the insurance. Whereas if you have a pet who is ill and the cost is higher, you make an insurance claim for that illness. Which is not the same as an accident, either car or animal.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have not could of.

You can get a policy that covers each condition with one excess for each no mater how long or often you claim for that condition.

But if you have to claim for two conditions then you pay an excess for each.

If you pick a policy that covers your pet for life on an annual basis then you have one excess with an overall limit of vet fees.

If you made two claims on the one year you would only pay one excess.

That is why you should read the policy document carefully so that you know exactly what cover you are buying..

    Not all

Policies are the same. You choose what you want.
