Definitely not the case with my Starling virtual cards as they are attached to Spaces and if there are insufficient funds in the Space then the transaction gets declined, not withdrawn from my unconnected main balance.

NatWest and RBS virtual cards do link to the main account though, so you may well be right on that score, however, if that was the case then little point in using them. Void feature.

That's missing the point - yes they are attached to spaces but they still try and take the money and the dodgy sub sites the OP is talking about will just keep trying - what I am saying is even if you killed the virtual card immediately, come a month/year later or whatever the trial is, they will keep trying to charge

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Revolut allow unlimited virtual card generation (at least for me it was no limits), but I moved to Monza, as I had noticed nearly all disposable virtual card transactions were getting declined, and even the non disposable was starting to get declined. Monza virtual cards always get approved, but you can only generate a limited amount.

My main reason for using virtual cards is security on my side, so now I have one virtual card which is frozen after every one off transaction, another which is used for reoccurring payments not frozen, and a couple spare.
