Thanks for the start Gers
Well that was a night! Started by an almighty crash inside the house at midnight - DM had fallen, thankfully not hurt but took a while to get her up.
Almost immediately the crashing started outside - 2 to 3 hours of almost constant thunder and lightning- I’ve never seen anything like it, lighting up the whole sky every few seconds. Then some rain, which became torrential and included hail (I never understand how that is possible when it’s so warm). Currently the power is off and due to be back by 9am.
Needless to say little sleep was had! Hope everyone else had a better night 😂

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers.
Nice and bright here with a bit of a breeze, washing in the machine, will hang it out before I go to work. Apparently the weather is to change tomorrow sadly although the garden and allotments could do with a good soaking.
The little one isn't at school this week as she has Chickenpox, surprised she's managed to avoid it up until now. I'll pop in to see her after work.
I got some more digging done at friend's garden and planted all the sweetcorn plants, the little one planted the whole packet so there are quite a few! The automatic opener on the greenhouse window has failed so I've ordered another cylinder to see if that'll fix it.
Hope your new client was a success Ruby.
Fingers crossed for your DS's job search YL.
Hope you can get an appointment with someone soon SuffolkSue.
Sorry your DM still isn't settled dp1.
Have a good day, take care. XX

Looks like another hot day on the cards, it’s going to be hot like this till Sunday when the weather breaks let’s hope this is not our summer!
Yesterday was interesting 🤨 really nice man in a beautiful house who has MS and the poor man is paralysed from the neck down we got on really well but there was an incident with his catheter bag which resulted in many calls to 999 and me leaving 2.5 hours late, I will write more when I have time, his wife is away this week as they are potentially separating so they don’t know what kind of care they are looking for going forward, I am going back today and him and his wife will discuss the future when she is back at the weekend, to be totally honest I am not sure it’s the right job for me as there is a lot of medical care involved, but I will go today as I dont want to let him down, he can’t even hold a drink to his mouth 🥲
Something with mince for dinner, dd is off today so she will cook, she had her wood flooring being delivered today which will have to go under the stairs for now.
AA I hope your mum is ok after her fall xx
DP1 I’m sorry your mum is struggling to settle xx
Have good days all and take care xx

Good Morning everyone,
Allie, what a fright that must have been, I am thankful that your mum is unhurt. I remember well the feeling when I heard my mum or dad fall when I helped care for them.
It feels fractionally cooler here, I still have the fan on, but on its lower setting, yay! One good thing, is that the washing dried very quickly on the airer yesterday. I have given up hanging the washing up outside as it kept getting christened by the birds.
Today, I will be visiting mum in her nursing home. I have tried to speak with her on the phone but she is now very deaf so has trouble hearing me, I am sure the other residents can hear every word I say though as I have to bellow! Apart from this, I have no other plans.Take care.

The sun is pouring in my hotel room, such a lovely start to my day.
Coming down to see 'The spy who came in from the cold' was well worth the journey. It was an excellent production, great cast and so well staged, almost mesmerising. Ralf Little was speaking for about 85% of the time, a huge amount of dialogue to remember. It was really powerful. If you get a chance to see it I'd recommend grabbing it.I'll be heading home soon. Should be available good drive in the sunshine. It's all forecasted to change from tomorrow, back to miserable weather so I'm going to make the most of it. I leave on Sunday and fly to Toronto on Monday morning. The excitement is racking up.
Take care all, enjoy the rays. Hugs to all.

Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
It's raining here. Yesterday was blooming cold - before we went to the hairdressers I looked at the outdoor thermometer,it was 11°! It warmed up slightly in the afternoon but was cold last night, we had to have the fire on.
I'm visiting a friend this morning, then it'll just be jobs round the house this afternoon.
Hope your Mum is ok Allie, Dp1, sorry to see your Mum is still so unsettled.
Sounds like you had a long day yesterday Ruby.
I used to have to bellow at my dad Peony, hard work isn't it.
Hope everyone manages to have a good day, take care folks.

A warmer day here than yesterday. All change next week.
Sorry you had such a disruptive night Allie. Glad your mum is OK
Glad you enjoyed the play @Gers I used to listen to the podcasts that Ralf did with Will Mellor. They were very funny together but they also discussed X rated stuff and got serious every now and then. A good mixture.
@RedRuby1231 the job does sound as though it's very medical. I'm sure you'll understand more today to make a decision
Nothing planned today except the usual chores. Too hot to do anything too taxing.
Hope everyone has a good day x

Good morning
Cooler at present after heavy rain during the night, but temperatures due to rise again.
I went shopping yesterday, goodness the roads were busy, and everyone seemed to want to get somewhere quickly. Anyway, I had a good old mooch, and picked up some offers on meat. I love a bargain.
No plans for today, probably more washing as the weather's good for drying. Maybe pork chops tonight if I can be bothered to cook.
Allie, hope your mums ok after her fall.
Dp1, sorry to hear your mums not settling.
Ruby, that was a long day yesterday.
Have a good day all, take care.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Poor you Allie, that was some night you had. I hope your DM is ok after the fall.
No sun here this morning and it looks as though we may have had light rain through the night. It didn't wake me so mustn't have amounted to much. The sun is due back late morning and the forecast is for it to reach 27 deg. Yesterday was much more pleasant than it has been and I sat a couple of hours out back with my book. As I plan another caravan trip next week it's just typical that the weather is set to change. I don't mind though as it's horrendous in caravans in a heatwave. DD and youngest DGD are there this week with not much sleep going on.
I gave the kitchen and bathroom a good once over yesterday morning, followed by the towel and bathmat washing. They soon dried. Today I will go with the flow but maybe first a dust and vac downstairs. I have been doing jobs as and when the weather permitted. Pointless toiling away in a heatwave.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for all in need or want. RUBY yesterday sounds like hard work, I hope today is a bit easier. But that poor man, life can be so cruel for some folk can't it. Take care all, be safe x

Morning all from a sunny but thankfully much cooler Mehefinland
Just popped in to gasp hello - been too hot here to do much else.30degrees at 5pm yesterday. Spent an hour yesterday afternoon waiting for a delivery of shavings - felt more like four in the heat. The nags were sweating even though there was a gentle breeze - they were glad to come in to the barn - I've had no trouble with them the last few days - I think , like us, they just preferred the cool in the barn. Can't even blame the flies - yet!
Garden is looking parched again, but that will recover quickly when this weather breaks ( typically over the weekend and into next week). Just hope its reasonable for DS's wedding day on the 6th. Gosh, that has come around quick!! Gwen was up to silly o clock working on the quilt last night- it has to go to be quilted on the 1st to a lady in Monmouth - apparently its a specialist machine for this task. Should be done within a day though so another trip needed to collect it. Then it has to be washed and dried-( there's one of those commercial machines in a local supermarket car park fortunately) and all before Friday next when we are travelling to Dorset!! I can see it being a bit fraught 😀 I'm assured it will be ok so I'll just have to keep quiet and pay the bill.
Got a whole pile of large ceramic pots from FB which I collected in the morning-they have been earmarked for a herbery. My soil is so thin I don't think they would 'take' properly so its a better option although watering will be a pain- this modern compost is rubbish - it doesn't hold water and dries out like a brick if you don't keep on top of it.
The new planter for the sensory garden at the library is due on the 8th so that will take some filling!. Acquired some wool shearings on the weekend, so some of that will go in the bottom to bulk it out a little, along with some old logs etc.
Better go do some watering so its hugs and spoons as always.
Mehefin aka Derek
