Hisense TV with Freely. UPDATED: Now returning and looking for advice.
hi.
new TV. example. channel 37.
do a full install with aerial connected and everything tunes in but some channels are showing via the aerial input which is a problem as the signal is terrible and why we went for a set with freely.
take aerial out and reset and the same channels are now via the internet and perfect.
there are a couple of channels we use that we know are aerial only which is why we connected the aerial but then its making other channels default to aerial.
i feel i must be missing something, and must be able to watch the internet available channels along side the aerial channels we still need?
thank you.

I've not used Freely a great deal on my TV, 95% of my TV watching is streaming via apps and the local terrestrial signal(s) are poor.
If you ask the TV to play a particular channel (it's running FireTV) it will assume you want "live" TV and default to Freely which is usually a poor terrestrial signal. Thus most watching is via the individual apps.
Maybe the answer is to not use Freely as your main interface?

Not all channels are on Freely or available to stream. If it isn't available it will have no choice but to default to the aerial.
What channels are you having issues with?

example. channel 37 is True Crime. using Freely, terrestrial picture breaks up as it always has because of poor reception. take aerial out of TV reset and 37 is still via Freely but now streaming and perfect.
so 37 is a streaming service but with the aerial plugged in its defaulting to showing me the terrestrial version.
i am 99% resigned to not bothering with the aerial at all but my other half likes a couple of terrestrial channels but they're not worth the hassle of losing streaming to terrestrial on other channels.

How you usually receive your streaming services?
So True Crime is available on Freely/Freeserve/Freesat - "terrestrial" sources. Are you subscribing to a TV service to obtain your streamed content (Sky/Virgin) or are you using the WatchFreeTV app installed on your TV?
What you really want is a list of all channels available on your TV and an option to set its default source?
I'm not sure that this kind of Smart is a feature of your (Google?) TV, not aware of it being a thing on my Panasonic.

I think this will be a limitation of a TV with built-in Freely.
You'd be better off with a separate Freely box (eg Manhattan Aero) connected via HDMI so you could then choose which input you want at any time.

put in postcode by clicking "regions" and you can toggle with/without aerial. 37 is a streaming channel within Freely. i don't have a dedicated app for 37, True Crime.
edit: i am now wondering if having the "WatchFreeUK" app installed is how we are seeing 37 as a streamed channel.
i'll look closer but i am wondering if i can leave as is and just manually add the couple of terrestrial channels that we'd like.
thanks.
edit: actually we do have the WatchFreeTV app installed but on launching that what you can watch "LIVE" is very minimal.

possible but if so annoying. we changed TV so we had "all in one" we had normal TV with a Roku box.
not really sure where live streaming of True Crime is sourced from but it definitely streams on freely 37 with no aerial.
at the end of the day no aerial is not a big loss as its only a couple of channels that we'd "like", they're not essential.

Digging into the Freely spec, it has channels which will stream 'live' content natively, so no additional app is required - so BBC/4/5/ITV and a lot of others including True Crime.
If a channel is available on both internet & ariel, how does it default? "Best" signal?

this is the whole issue. it appears to be defaulting to aerial when internet would be the best option. i havn't found a way to make this happen hence removing the aerial from the TV.

Sort out the aerial and cables / connections so the reception is fixed?
Can the through aerial channel list be edited?
LCN 37 (Freely) is True Crime on Freeview LCN 37 is QVC 2 — True Crime is LCN 67 there! QVC2 is 433 on Freely. What a right royal mess!!!
True Crime is on the SDN multiplex so perhaps a MANUAL tune of the aerial channels for the other muxes only (after deleting stored channels) can resolve it? Certainly worth giving Freely a call about it, I'd suggest.
will allow you to check if any TV channels you want could be lost… and ask those to provide a streaming service. ;)
