Property without off street parking and Electric cars

As electric cars are becoming more popular, the ability to charge them at home makes a property more desireable.

What would you say would the lack of parking have on a property value as EV are becoming more popular and one day will be the only vehicle around?

I mean in non city areas as most places in cities don't have parking space anyway but charging EV takes a lot longer than filling your car with petrol, this must mean properties with off street parking will become even more expensive in the cities?

    Time will tell.

Stick a solar panel on car roof. It's been done before and, trust me, will become increasingly common.

    Good luck

unfortunately a solar panel won't help in winter in the snowy places. or possibly not where it rains a lot?

if your car is parked overnight at home, then you charge it then. So no wasted time going to petrol station, as well as you do not need to charge every night.

Many work places will be installing charging, as well as car parks, so you could charge while working.

It will be a long time before EVs are the only vehicles around.

Maybe by then public transport will be so good that people won't need a car at all 😉

    Dream on.

Our local idea to make better public transport id to repaint & rebrand them. Nothing at all about how this will make better time keeping or less cancelations & increase routes 🤣

Every study I've seen has shown that the energy captured by a solar panel on a car roof does is more than negated by the additional weight and drag those panels imposes on the car, so it does not work.

It would need the panels to be part of the manufacuring process, not an aftermarket addition.

Would be interested to see if you've seen it proven anywhere.

Small wind turbine that you pop on your car when it's parked somewhere? Could it be on the car while you are travelling to benefit from all that air blowing past you???

Maybe invent something that recharges a battery based on how much rain hits the car??? Like wave energy but on a smaller scale….

How about sails attached to the roof then as long as you were headed downwind you'd be fine?

I could see this working on those two wheeled things that buzz about. You could have bigger versions.

Who knows, a three masted scooter.

    (I'll get my coat)

I doubt if it will make any difference. All the indications are that private car ownership will slowly become the preserve of the rich.

Look at World Economic Forum plans for urban areas, and you'll see no private cars. There are bikes, buses, and delivery vehicles, but no people in their own cars. They might be able to hire an electric self-driving vehicle for visits on special occasions, and there would be corporately owned fleets too, but not to take home.

Never believe anything until it's officially denied.

The reality is that for your average car user with an EV by the time you can't buy ICE any more, probably won't need to refuel more than 1 or 2 times a month. By that point there will be a lot more places to charge an EV, and the charge will be faster, so it's likely that the car will spend enough time somewhere it can charge that it's more of a cost issue than a possibility issue, because home charging will always be cheaper.

Houses with off-street parking and charging will be more desirable, though I don't think it'll be by much because off-street parking is already desirable. It's not going to cause any real shake up of the housing market, except that all newly installed parking spaces will have charging facilities at some point.
