Tyre and Alloy Wheel Care Plans

Hi,

I would appreciate any help/advice on above.

Took delivery of a new car 4 days ago, I also took out a tyre and alloy wheel care plan as recommended by the dealer.

I now have to have a tyre replaced due to a puncture/tyre fault?

The supplying dealer said I would need to contact the care plan provider who simply rejected my claim under a first 30 day ruling.

Does anybody out there know were I stand?

    What does the contract say?

But it's not unusual to be unable to claim for the first 30 days of taking out such a policy. Otherwise, people would just buy the policy if/when they got a puncture, which may not be for years - so they'd save themselves years of paying a premium for a policy they never use.

I would cancel the contract under the 14 day rule if I were you. How much did they skin you for? Remember these sort of contracts have big margins for the dealer, hence his enthusiasm to sell it to you.

    Hi COI,

Yes I understand the insurers need to prevent fraudulent claims but this is a brand new car with the care bought and paid for before i took delivery.

All irrelevant if the policy does not provide cover until 30 days after thepurchase of the policy.

As above, if you are in the 14 day cooling off period then cancel it and put the money to the new tyre. Never buy these policies from the dealer selling the car - they are cheaper if you go direct, although very rarely good value due to the number of clauses.

    Agree with above.

What does the T/C say about punctures.

It would be quite clear between a puncture & a tyre fault.
