Bank account for 16 yo stating apprenticeship
Looking for some advice please - my 16 year old is starting an apprenticeship in July and needs a current account for wages to be paid into. Have looked with my existing bank but nothing seems suitable. Any suggestions appreciated.

Here's an MSE article about accounts & cards for U-18s.
The usual banks all offer such accounts, which one have you looked at and why was it not suitable?

Any bank offering a current account will do what your 16 YO needs.

Lots of banks offer current accounts for 16 year old. I would suggest Starting or Monzo as they are nice modern banks with very good apps, but any would do the job.

Monzo might be pretty and colourful but have no credit interest plus charge £1 for cash deposits and sometimes also charge for basic things like card replacements etc unlike real banks.
What bank does the OP use?

They are a real bank with FSCS protection. They do charge for cash deposits but most people are unlikely to pay in cash in very oftenm if at all. No they don't pay credit interest, but you get two free card replacements per year if you have one active direct debit and pay in £500 a month.

I'm with RBS

Their resolve account would do the job. Most banks will do an account with a debit card, app and Google/Apple pay which is all he needs really.
