    Nothing wrong with that. Not much point having a fat pension if you're sleeping in a cardboard box. It is just that some people lose track of their pensions until a surprise letter turns up asking what they want to do with it.

    Starting a pension in your mid 50s may be a little late but don't let that stop you. It can be a very tax efficient way to save. And if you are employed then your employer should also be contributing to your pension so by not having one you are missing out (but maybe you are self employed).
