There's a CDI* London listing, 0EV1. The LSE's page indicates its denominated in USD but if you look at the trade data there are GBP and EUR denominated trades as well. Whether brokers offer this is something else but based on the OP's comments Interactive Investor does appear to.

I was originally told that any new purchase of Carnival shares would have to be on the NYSE, so I'm assuming you would need to purchase the US shares to qualify for the perks. However, the whole situation remains a bit unclear. At the moment I can't trade in the UK Depository Interests (DIs) in my Interactive Investor account.

I encourage all CCL holders with DIs to raise a complaint so that said complaint can be escalated to the ombudsman. II have clearly messed up and need to be taken to task. This will cost them dearly if we eventually need to complain to the ombudsman.

What exactly is the problem with ii? I have tried unsuccessfully to transfer two CCL holding`s from Equiniti and HL to ii nearly six weeks after I put transfer request in quoting, they are unsupported assets. I saw your post on another forum asking people to raise a complaint.

They have yet to transfer the DIs, whilst other brokers have done so. We should have a holding of US shares not DIs.

II have transferred the shares l now have the US equivalent with the profit being correctly displayed.

Book value was slightly off but easily tweakable.

Had complications with the transfer of mine through Trading 212, but now seems to be all fine.

Out of interest does anyone know how Capital Gains Tax works with this now? I assume from what I’ve read is that it’s still the same process in taking the sale price in GBP from the purchase price in GBP back when they were acquired in the UK. T212 inconveniently now show my gain as the current share price (treating the shares as acquired at £0), but thankfully bought 100 shares in one go and still have that price in my history.

  • I don't really understand stocks and shares and only own Carnival for the benefit. My shares are held with Equiniti who want to put them in a US CSN, which I didn't like the sound of, so I tried to transfer them to ii but they wouldn't accept them. I am now trying to get Equiniti to work out how to transfer them to DRS, however, I am not clear on whether I will get embroiled in some US tax or inheritance issue at a later date. Equiniti have set a deadline of 20 Aug to transfer or sell free but I don't know how much they will charge after this. I now don't know whether to keep pursuing the DRS option or whether just to sell them and try to buy new (somewhere?). Does anyone have any reference to definitive information on this? My instinct is not to trust financial services at all due to them trying to make money from my ignorance so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
