CE Ltd - broken down but cannot appeal

My wife has a Citroen Ami that ran out of battery so she pulled off the road into KFC car park, rang me and waited for me to go there. She went and ate in KFC so it's not like she hasn't given them money! I arrived to charge the car which obviously took some time and then we drove off again. So we didn't get a towtruck or use a recovery firm so I cannot get 'proof' from them. I put all this in accompanying (pdf) documentation on my appeal. They have replied and said there is not enough evidence and have given me more time to upload more evidence. I don't know what more I can give! But moreso than that, I cannot reply to 'no-reply' email to tell them and when I have tried to upload another document to say this, it errors and says you have already submitted an appeal for this PCN. I cannot ring them to ask what to do (I know the recommendation is not ring them anyway) but what are my next steps?

How do you assist with an EV that has no charge?

  • Irrelevant to the PCN but: the Citroen Ami is tiny and can charge from a domestic 13a socket. I had a petrol generator which i took there and charged it.

"My wife has a Citroen Ami that ran out of battery so she pulled off the road into KFC car park".

Tell her never to do that again.

Pull into the public kerb on a side street even if it's restricted or has yellow lines. No PCN is possible if she stays on-street. Obviously not in a bus lane or red route.

NEVER choose private land (basically not a car park, ever). Stay on street. It's OK.

"I put all this in accompanying (pdf) documentation on my appeal"

How come you appealed? Are you the keeper?

You realise it's a complete farce and you'll get a rejection even if you had evidence? You also don't try to ring these people! You don't talk to this rotten lot!

The rogue (unregulated) parking sector don't have a customer service ethic that extends to consumers. They only make money from fake penalties (they aren't paid by the landowner).

You need to start IGNORING them. Literally stop. The recipient of the letters - you? Your wife? - only contacts CEL if you move house and if you get a Letter before/of Claim, as discussed in post 2 of the NEWBIES FAQS thread.

Stop taking the bait and thinking you have to 'appeal'.

Read post 4 then post 2 of the NEWBIES thread. You'll never pay this but avoid car parks. I would literally have pulled over anywhere safe on-street.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
