My parents had a house very much in that neck of the woods. First in on a new development, as close to the cliff tops as possible. It was a nice, relatively sleepy traditional town back then.

Sadly over the next 20 years it turned into a massively overdeveloped concrete jungle. They got shot of it soon after.

A great shame, some of my best childhood holidays were out there - the ability to just hop on a (Monarch/Britannia/Dan-Air) flight and get there knowing all your stuff was already sorted for a week away, that was very nice.

If there's a lesson to be learned, I guess it's to be conscious that what you buy today could turn out to be something very different tomorrow. DYOR and all that…

What are your views on retirement and health?

6 months ago, I was healthy as anything. I never considered health issues. I got a foot infection which has gone really bad. I now need physio. My doctor is concerned that because my body is still trying to fight the issues, my blood sugars are through the roof. Pre-diabetes numbers.

Now in my 50s, I'm going to be difficult to insure. This is from absolutely nowhere.

Obviously, other people develop cancer suddenly too.

What would you do if one of you suddenly had a medium term health issue.
